Here's the Pitcairn Island Web Site. Full of photos. Quite extensive and authoritative. Includes a Virtual Shopping Mall where arts and crafts can be ordered. Among the items at the mall, we're pleased to see, is a walking stick carved out of coconut wood. There's also a Who's Who on Pitcairn which identifies the 50 or so residents of the island. The Who's Who page is a little bit unsettling, though. Do these people know they're being publicised worldwide on the Web? At times one gets, from browsing this site, the slightest impression that Pitcairn is a sort of "living museum". But the story, the people, and this island is fascinating nonetheless. All in all, a wonderful website. Check it out.
Here is the 1995 World Factbook page on Pitcairn.
